A small scale injection
moulding machine with a maximum shot volume of 5 ml is developed
by DSM Xplore. It fits easily on your laboratory bench or
in a fume cupboard! This remarkable machine is best used
in combination with one of our successful twin screw microcompounders.
If there is no need to mix materials in the microcompounder
the micro injection moulding machine can be used as stand-alone.
Now you can test and evaluate new and/or expensive materials
and formulations in very small amounts.
Our range of micro
processing machines offer solutions to all these issues.
The core of this laboratory injection moulding machines consists
of a temperature controlled mold housing for a conical shaped
mould in combination with a heated removable injection nozzle
unit. The divisible conical shaped moulds are fitted into
the housing in such a way that opening during injection is
prevented. As a result flashing of material belongs to the
past. Compounded material is injected into the temperature
controlled mould, using a plunger powered by compressed air.
Holding pressure and time are adjustable to avoid shrinkage
of the molded test sample. The mould is then removed from
the machine and opened by hand. The injection unit is easily
removable and can thus quickly be filled by either compounded
material directly from our microcompounder or manually with
powder or granules. Depending on the mould capacity, several
injection cycles can be performed with one batch-volume of
one of the DSM Xplore microcompounders. Alternatively separate
cavities can be fit into one mold, hence one injection cycle
gives different test-samples.
