FAQ

Why do Xplore Micro-Compounders have a vertical barrel?

It gives the smallest footprint and eliminates the need for force-feeding. Also, the barrel is watertight, so no need for liquid feeders either. Keeps things simple, costs low and less technology to maintain.

Was Xplore Instruments the first company to introduce the Micro-Compounder to the market?

Absolutely, it was originally developed by Prof. Han Meijer from DSM and later commercialized to support other scientists with their polymer innovation.

Does Xplore offer co- and counterrotation for their Micro-Compouders?

Yes, just simply switch the gearbox and you're good to go.

Why does Xplore have conical screws?

The tapered screw geometry ensures a gradual build-up of pressure, resulting in stable extrusion with minimal fluctuations.

Do Xplore Micro-Compounders provide exact scale-up factors?

Yes, our Rheological Software provides accurate data for this.

Are there different instruments for different applications?

Our Micro-Compounders are offered in 3 different batch sizes and can be mixed an matched with our downstream equipment to allow a broad range of applications.

What type of materials can I process with the Xplore instruments?

The broad temperature range and high specific screw torque allow our micro compounders to process even the most demanding thermoplastics, including (but not limited to) PEEK, PPS, PEI, PVDF, LCP's etc.

Can the instrument of Xplore be tailored to my specific needs?

Our extrusion instruments are customizable to meet your unique specifications. Whether you need output capacities or automation features, we are open to build something exceptional together.

Can the instruments of Xplore be cleaned easily?

The clamshell design and easy removable mixing screws allow for uncomplicated cleaning of our instruments. Combined with the fast heating and cooling rates this will keep cleaning cycle times to a minimum!

How do I know if my material can be processed on an Xplore instrument?

We are always happy to run a feasibility test with your material on our demonstration equipment. You are welcome to visit us at our office in the Netherlands or join us for an online demonstration! Please click the button below to find out more.
